HUNDREDS of kids in
our community are
waiting for a loving family.
Together, let’s get
to ZERO.
Children who grow up without a steady, loving relationship with a parent become vulnerable to a host of struggles – in fact, 85% of children raised outside of a family will fall victim to trafficking, gang involvement, homelessness, substance abuse, or suicide. It’s a crisis that will continue unchecked – unless the Church steps up to care.
The Initiative For Vulnerable Children (IVC), founded at Saddleback Church, is a collaborative of church leaders, volunteers, and nonprofit organizations dedicated to providing families with the tools and training to raise up and equip loving families for vulnerable children. Together, we can create a future where no child has to go to bed praying for a family of their own.
It’s clear that God cares deeply about the plight of vulnerable children – especially those outside of family care. Since the early 2000s, Saddleback Church has been mobilizing and training churches around the globe on how we can best respond to God’s call to care for children.
God’s response to us as spiritual orphans was to provide a family through adoption – a spiritual family with him and within the Church. That’s why our response to vulnerable children is centered around families and churches.
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
Ephesians 1:5
The Bible affirms, and science confirms, that children need the care of a family to thrive. That’s why we’re committed to helping find families for children outside of family care, and equipping parents to care for vulnerable children.
Ready to begin exploring adoption or foster care? Or looking for tools to strengthen your foster/adoptive family? We are here to help.
Regardless of size, every church can create a community that supports families to care for vulnerable children. Together, we can get to zero children waiting for a family of their own.
By working together, utilizing best-practices in care for children, we can make an impact for kids who need it most.
